Plastic mask from craft store
Pieces of wool felt
Silk leaves from floral department
Hot glue/glue gun and/or Rubber Cement
Elastic for securing mask onto face
Ribbons
Scissors- small pointed
Any odd bits you would like to add for decoration
Cover work surface with an oil cloth/plastic tablecloth.
Carefully remove the elastic from the plastic mask. Set aside.
With a marker draw a line around the eyeholes to make them almost double the size.
Cut on the lines with the scissors.
Now is the time to decide the shape of your mask you may choose the shape of the plastic mask or to enlarge it, covering your cheeks. Or give some shape above the eyes.
Using hot glue or rubber cement attach one piece of felt to the mask front. Then attach the other piece to the back.
Carefully cut the eyes out of the felt and trim around the mask, leaving enough of an edge to seal the edges.
Remove the silk leaves from their stems. (At this point you might want to attach ribbon around any edges like the eyes.)
Beginning on the outside edge, glue the leaves around. Leave the nose open. Then layer over the outer edge leaves covering the space where the outer edge leaves meet. Continue in this fashion creating eyebrows or other feature. (Make sure you can replace the elastic or thread ribbon so you can wear your mask.) Save a nice leaf that will fit over the nose.
Attach elastic and/or ribbons and any other embellishment you find appropriate. Then go out and celebrate the coming of the Greenman.
